Before going on do remember that drawing cartoons is not a search for representative likeness, but the capturing of the essence of a picture in as few lines and colors as possible. This doesn’t mean that they are achieved easily, as identifying that essence and capturing it well are real skills. All it takes is a bit of practice correctly carried thru.

But the practice needs direction and that comes from careful and analytical observation. When you are training yourself pick a single topic for a practice session. Depending upon your choice you could pick the overall impressions, face shapes, hands (some find this tricky), feet or specific features such as noses or eyes.

Drawing cartoon of children set specific challenges.

Firstly, note the difference in the body proportions of a kid compared to a grown up. Kids have a significantly larger head in proportion to their torso size and the cartoonist does well to exaggerate that. It sends a clear message to your viewers that this is a kid.

Take a careful look at the next baby you see and note how short the arms and legs are compared to the length of the torso. At the age of a few months they are very short and over the coming years they lengthen to reach the adult proportions. Again this is an indication of age to your viewer and needs to be in harmony with your other proportions.

Next, children have smoother skin than older people. Use gentle curves and minimal lines to get your effect. No wrinkles here, but maybe a few freckles to complement that impish grin?

One of the beauties of cartooning is that you can play games with these proportions. At an extreme the caricaturist draws a head and face that is enormous compared to the body size as that’s the bit that’s important to them. But generally the rest of the body is on proportion to itself, even though still tiny compared to the head. As you become skilled you will discover for yourself where you can play games like this to suit your own style.

Remember, the more you practice the easier it is and the better you become. As you work on a new bit you may take a step or two backwards, but do not be discouraged. That backwards step is the platform for the next leap forwards. Do a little every day – but set yourself a purpose every session.

There are so many new options that you would be left confused. You can now enjoy cartoons on television shows, morning newspapers and the internet. Whenever you are lonely or sad, turn on your favorite cartoon and roll away in laughter. Remember that your responsibilities increase as you grow old, but the child inside you does not die. You can always bring that back by reading the morning Garfield strip or checking out the new SpongeBob show.

The comic strip in the newspapers was a favorite for most people as they grew up. What started out as a small strip has grown into a variety of world famous cartoons. You can probably remember Archies and Garfield. Now you can choose between a variety of cartoon strips from Calvin and Hobbes to The Wizard Of Id. If that is not enough, you can also catch your cartoons as television shows on morning channels. What can be better than bugs bunny outsmarting the hunter or the road runner defeating his smart enemies. You would laugh and laugh until you have tears in your eyes. From getting hit with anvils to blasting each other with cannons, it’s a dream world of fun and laughter.

Cartoons have some of the funniest jokes and the wittiest punch lines. You can laugh at anything and anyone in cartoons. You could even make one yourself. Remember the bully who troubles you at school? Why not draw him as a fat slug and show him falling under a piano. That can surely bring a big grin to your face. Cartoon humor has been growing constantly.

If you are bored of the repeats on television, switch on your computer and log onto any cartoon site. You will hold your stomach, crying out in laughter as you see the funny range of cartoons. One year old talking babies or a family of idiots, all of them can make you laugh for hours. Books and movies, people and places, things and thoughts, all come alive with cartoons.

If you love cartoons, there is always something that you have never seen before. Starting from Mickey and the Disney Gang to Pokemon and SpongeBob, all are genius shows. If you feel you have watched them all, you can always watch exclusive clips or unreleased extras on the net. There is never a dull moment with the huge collection of cartoon pages and websites that is sure to make anyone laugh with pure fun. A bundle of laughs and memories of joy, cartoons keep being a part of our lives. It is up to you to enjoy the world of cartoon humor and always keep the laughs alive when you are feeling down.

A joke is basically a narration or story of some funny incident that an individual may have encountered in his or her life. Or it may be a fragment of some innovative joke ster’s imagination capable of invoking laughter and mirth among many. It may even be a simple line or a message whose ingenuity or incongruity has the power to evoke laughter. While broaching the subject of jokes it is worth mentioning the fact that as nothing in this world comes in perfectly one shade and aspect, the same is true for humor. Your humor may have the capability of provoking joy among individuals but it is quite possible that crude jokes and over explicit jokes might actually result in quite an opposite effect. This is an important element of jokes and is more specifically classified into two types that are clean jokes and humor as opposed to the less favorable and less recommended type i.e. dirty humor.

The basic feature which enables us to categorize humor into clean jokes and otherwise is their rating which enables us to identify whether the joke is safe for children and young adults or not. Moreover, jokes which actually result in a harassing effect and provoke aggravation among different beliefs, point of views and thought schools by deriding them also fall into this category. Clean jokes thus need to be identified and separated from their opposites and their importance and need should in no way be compromised. Moreover, in most companies, offices and institutes, any professional workplace or even family get togethers, the use of dirty jokes is considered as a serious offense. Not only is this against all the social and moral norms but also tends to worsen the environment and work place sanity.

Clean jokes can be easily found on a number of dedicated websites on the World Wide Web and one of their greatest advantages is that you don’t have to worry about hurting another’s feelings or emotions through your humor. Sharing clean jokes is an excellent way of putting a smile on your friend’s or loved one’s face. You may choose to either share them in public gatherings or email them to friends and family to create a beautiful memory.

There was no question that she would spend some time teaching them to draw cartoons. Fun was definitely not the name of the game at that time as puckish humor was not the done thing. A child would be taught how to sketch or paint in oils, however he would not be allowed to indulge in his own creativity by drawing long nosed ridiculous stick figures representing grown-up authority.

Nevertheless parents are slowly and steadily getting to know that the family that plays together stays together and that is the reason why they are spending more and more time indulging in childish activities, over which they can bond with each other.

And among these activities, some of the most important ones are drawing funny cartoons. From the age of 2, a child begins to learn motor skills by picking up a piece of pencil and scribbling all over the wall à la Picasso. A parent should immediately encourage him to indulge in such creativity by giving him a piece of paper, colored pencils and allow him to scribble away using these mediums. Who knows that you might have the next budding Michelangelo right in your own home?

Humor and fun filled cartoons are some of the easiest activities going. The cartoons definitely do not have to be made to measure, as long as they have some recognizable points. The parents can begin by teaching children stick cartoons. You do not have to be a professional artist, because even a lopsided bunny is going to be acknowledged with cheers by your children. What they are looking for is some quality time spent with you; they ask for nothing more.

Some of the fun activities that can be done by parents as well as children is the making of scrapbooks of the events in the life of the family. For example, for a family get-together, the events can be recorded for posterity with every single member of the family drawing Uncle Hector stepping on the tail of the cat, and Aunt Emily sitting on Aunt Pat’s hat. Not only is this going to be a memorable way of remembering the occasion, but it is going to be preserved for future generations. It is good to label these cartoons with funny statements.

Kids love to indulge in such creative activities, because they get a great opportunity to make caricatures of people. Not only is this a very healthy way of getting rid of excess energy, but also, they can be kept busy during a rainy day, drawing cartoons.

Parents who use the excuse that they do not have time to spend with their children because they are busy earning for their children’s future, are missing out on lots of family fun. And what could be funnier than drawing colorful cartoons for your future sketchbooks, to relax and while away an otherwise boring rainy day?
